Wigeon
Anas penelope
Rualacha

The Wigeon is an abundant winter visitor from northern Europe to Ireland. Flocks are to be found in grassy places alongside lakes, estuaries and some large rivers. On the ground, Wigeon can be quite inconspicuous despite their fine plumage but in the air they are very obvious. The males have large white wing patches and they call continuously with a far-carrying whistle “whee-oo”. The female is dull and brownish.
